TRACK ARTEMIS II LIVE WITH UNISTELLAR

Join a global community of observers and follow NASA’s first crewed deep-space mission in 50 years — directly through your Unistellar telescope.

On April, 1, 2026, humanity returns to deep space.
Artemis II is NASA’s first crewed mission beyond low Earth orbit in over 50 years. Four astronauts will travel aboard the Orion spacecraft on a journey around the Moon and back, testing critical human-rated systems — life support, navigation, and deep-space communications — paving the way for future lunar landings and long-term exploration.

  • Mission duration: 10 days
  • Departure: From April, 1, 2026
  • Return: Around April,11, 2026
  • Global visibility window: Approximately 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. (local conditions apply)
  • Key observation moment: When the spacecraft appears closest to the Moon, just before being dazzled by solar illumination ; with distinct viewing phases before and after the lunar flyby.

How to Observe Artemis II with Unistellar

How to observe Artemis II with your Unistellar telescope

On launch night, you won’t just be watching a rocket — you’ll be witnessing humanity’s return to deep space with Artemis II. Here’s how to be part of it.

  1. Set up your Unistellar telescope and connect it to the app, then switch to your home Wi-Fi and visit science.unistellar.com → Planetary Defense → Ephemeris.
  2. Find the cellphone icon on the right (if it has a greyed out eye it means the target isn’t visible yet). Select Artemis II, enter your location and observation time, and hit Generate to get the link back to your app.
  3. Reconnect your telescope, press Goto, confirm the settings : RA and Dec should be entered in the app for you. Hit “Save” and once the telescope is finished moving, you can begin the observation by hitting the “Record” button on your screen to record your observation.
  4. Then watch as it slews to the rocket in real time.
  5. Check the ephemeris if the target disappears then follow it again when it becomes visible, and experience the launch like never before. ✨

From your backyard to the Moon. This time, you are witnessing history.
