En 2027, la sonde Lucy arrivera au niveau des ast\u00e9ro\u00efdes troyens, un groupe d\u2019ast\u00e9ro\u00efdes qui suit l\u2019orbite de Jupiter autour du Soleil, et dont Eurybates fait parti. Mais il reste encore beaucoup \u00e0 faire avant cette \u00e9ch\u00e9ance, et les scientifiques doivent notamment collecter de plus amples donn\u00e9es sur les cibles de la mission Lucy. Les astronomes citoyens peuvent contribuer \u00e0 ces travaux pr\u00e9paratoires en observant l\u2019ast\u00e9ro\u00efde au moment o\u00f9 il passe devant une \u00e9toile et en bloque bri\u00e8vement la lumi\u00e8re\u00a0: c\u2019est ce qu\u2019on appelle une occultation. Cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement s\u2019est av\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00eatre l\u2019une des plus grandes campagnes d\u2019observation d\u2019une occultation \u00e0 ce jour !<\/strong> \u00a0Leurs efforts ont permis plusieurs d\u00e9tections positives de l\u2019occultation avec les t\u00e9lescopes Unistellar. Une \u00e9quipe de scientifiques de l\u2019institut SETI analysent les donn\u00e9es. Les premiers r\u00e9sultats montrent une double occultation qui sugg\u00e8re plusieurs hypoth\u00e8ses : Eurybates pourrai avoir une forme d\u2019haricot ou poss\u00e9der un crat\u00e8re. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 suppos\u00e9 que Queta pourrait obscurcir une \u00e9toile peu de temps avant ou apr\u00e8s l\u2019occultation d\u2019Eurybates. Mais en raison des incertitudes concernant la taille de cette lune, les scientifiques n\u2019\u00e9taient pas en mesure de pr\u00e9dire avec exactitude l\u2019emplacement de l\u2019ombre de Queta, ni m\u00eame si elle serait d\u00e9tectable. Les troyens orbitent en deux groupes distincts et leur formation remonte aux premiers temps du syst\u00e8me solaire. Ils fonctionnent donc comme des capsules temporelles qui aident les scientifiques \u00e0 \u00e9tudier cette p\u00e9riode. En observant Eurybates et Queta, les astronomes citoyens ont directement contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 une mission de la NASA qui pourrait permettre de percer les secrets de nos origines.<\/p>\n<p>Nous allons r\u00e9aliser bien d\u2019autres observations d\u2019occultations d\u2019ast\u00e9ro\u00efdes en vue de l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de la mission Lucy, et toute personne disposant d\u2019un t\u00e9l\u00e9scope Unistellar peut y participer\u00a0!
