Les experts suivent de pr\u00e8s ces corps du syst\u00e8me solaire pour observer leur emplacement et leur trajectoire. Cette surveillance permet aux astronomes de comprendre ce qui se passerait en cas d\u2019impact avec la Terre et, surtout, d\u2019identifier des solutions pr\u00e9ventives. Cette discipline est connue sous le nom de\u00a0<a href=\"\/citizen-science\/planetary-defense\/\">D\u00e9fense Plan\u00e9taire.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>L\u2019objectif ultime de la d\u00e9fense plan\u00e9taire est que nous soyons pr\u00eats \u00e0 modifier la trajectoire d\u2019un objet g\u00e9ocroiseur sur le point d\u2019entrer en collision avec notre plan\u00e8te, voire \u00e0 \u00e9liminer l\u2019objet.\u00a0L\u2019observation de ces objets est cruciale, non seulement pour surveiller les menaces potentielles, mais aussi pour recueillir suffisamment d\u2019informations sur chaque objet \u2013 sa taille, sa forme, sa vitesse et sa trajectoire \u2013 afin de d\u00e9terminer les mesures \u00e0 prendre pour le d\u00e9vier.
